Acorns

By Jonathan Tyler

I have a friend who is a park ranger.

He knows everything about trees.

He tells me that during a drought

The oak trees produce more acorns

Than during a wet year. The oak

Knows that love is survival.

Darling, it feels like a drought year to me.

Come closer, I don’t want to die.
